WIKA Restores Clean Water Services in Solok Through Post-Disaster Project
PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to support the Ministry of Public Works (PU) in restoring basic public infrastructure through the implementation of the Post-Disaster Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) Handling project in Solok Regency and Solok City, West Sumatra.
This project is part of rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts for water supply facilities damaged by disasters, aiming to ensure the community can regain access to safe and sustainable clean water. It was initiated in response to infrastructure damage that disrupted clean water services to the public. Through its support for the Ministry of Public Works programme, WIKA plays a role in accelerating the restoration of basic services while enhancing the reliability of the drinking water supply system to be more resilient against future potential disasters.
The work covers several locations, including SPAM Tabek Kaciak, SPAM Aie Badarun, SPAM Aie Abuih, SPAM Air Tabik, SPAM Batu Kubung/Guguak Rantau, SPAM KTK, SPAM Guguak Lasuang, and SPAM Padat Karya Payo. The scope of work includes repairing water sources, constructing intakes, broncaptering, reservoirs, water treatment plants (IPA), transmission and distribution pipe networks, pipe bridges, complementary buildings, and mechanical and electrical facilities.
Several preliminary works are already underway at various sites, such as the installation of gabions and delivery of pipe materials at SPAM Air Tabik, rock excavation work in the intake area of SPAM Batu Kubung, and the delivery of GIP pipe materials for SPAM Aie Badarun. Currently, the work is focused on the construction preparation stage, material procurement, and initial execution at each location.
WIKA Corporate Secretary Ngatemin stated that this project plays a crucial role in supporting the Ministry of Public Works to restore basic public services post-disaster while strengthening the resilience of drinking water infrastructure in the affected region. “The post-disaster SPAM handling in Solok Regency and City is part of WIKA’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Public Works in restoring basic infrastructure services that directly impact people’s lives. Through the reconstruction of various affected drinking water facilities, we hope clean water services can be restored promptly and provide long-term benefits to the community, while also improving the system’s reliability in facing potential future disasters,” Ngatemin said.
The project implementation is currently supported by the involvement of local workers who assist operational activities, providing economic benefits to the surrounding community through job creation and increased economic activity in the affected area.
This Post-Disaster SPAM Handling project for Solok Regency and City is targeted for completion by December 2026. Once all work is finished, the drinking water supply system in the affected locations is expected to function optimally again, serve the community sustainably, and support post-disaster social and economic recovery through the availability of more reliable and adequate clean water access.
