Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has recorded another significant achievement with the successful completion of the Glass Bridge project, reaching the Provisional Hand Over (PHO) stage. The completion of this project serves as tangible proof of the Company’s commitment to meeting project targets on time, with the correct quality, and in accordance with safety standards, while simultaneously demonstrating that WIKA’s operational activities remain robust amidst the company’s transformation and restructuring process.

All construction work for the project has been completed and officially handed over through the PHO stage to the Balai Besar Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional (BBPJN) DKI Jakarta–West Java, the project owner. Regarding the operational timing of the bridge for the general public, further information will be provided by the BBPJN in accordance with their authority and established operational readiness.

The Glass Bridge project, built to support the development of the national tourism sector, has a contract value of IDR 198 billion. During the construction period, it successfully employed approximately 210 workers, contributing positively to the economy in the surrounding area.

As the longest glass bridge in Indonesia, featuring a main span of 275 metres, the project utilises a suspension bridge type that prioritises safety, quality, and construction innovation. To support structural reliability, WIKA implemented high-standard technical specifications, including the use of 3 cm thick tempered glass flooring reinforced with a SentryGlas Plus (SGP) layer. This material possesses higher stiffness and strength compared to conventional laminates, providing optimal protection against operational loads.

Structural reliability is further supported by the use of an Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) type wire rope system with a diameter of 52 mm, steel hangers with a grade of 345 MPa, and a lateral stressing method in cable geometry formation to ensure the balance, stability, and precision of the bridge structure. The application of this technology reflects WIKA’s engineering capabilities in delivering infrastructure that possesses not only high aesthetic value but also meets safety and construction quality standards.

WIKA Corporate Secretary, Ngatemin, stated that achieving the PHO is a reflection of the Company’s ability to maintain operational performance amidst its corporate transformation.

“The achievement of the Glass Bridge Project PHO is proof that WIKA remains capable of conducting business activities optimally amidst the ongoing transformation and restructuring process. The Company remains committed to completing every project by prioritising quality, safety, and timeliness as a form of responsibility to our customers and all stakeholders. This success also demonstrates that the Company’s recovery steps are progressing alongside our ability to deliver high-quality projects that provide real benefits to the community,” said Ngatemin.

The successful completion of this project also strengthens WIKA’s commitment to supporting high-quality national infrastructure development, while providing a multiplier effect through labour absorption, the empowerment of local supply chains, and the development of tourist destinations expected to boost regional economic activity.

Moving forward, WIKA will continue to focus on completing strategic projects with the correct quality, timing, and cost, in line with the Company’s efforts to strengthen business fundamentals, increase competitiveness, and create sustainable added value for all stakeholders.
