JAKARTA - The President Director of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, Agung Budi Waskito, has disclosed the ongoing burden borne by the company related to the Whoosh High-Speed Rail project. He stated that the company must still shoulder losses amounting to Rp 1.7 trillion to Rp 1.8 trillion every year from the project. “Every year, there is indeed still a burden that must be borne,” said Agung, after a media visit to the HBR II Toll Road, Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026). According to him, this burden is connected to financial obligations arising from WIKA’s involvement in the Whoosh project. Agung explained that this situation forms part of the challenges faced by the company in maintaining financial performance amid various strategic projects being undertaken. With this condition, WIKA continues to bear the annual burden from the Whoosh High-Speed Rail project while implementing strategies to improve financial performance going forward. Agung added that WIKA wishes to carry out divestment in the Whoosh project to minimise the annual losses experienced. However, he acknowledged that the process is not easy. This is because the company’s involvement in the project is stipulated in a Presidential Regulation (Perpres). “Well, we ask the government or Danantara to, as much as possible, exclude WIKA, which is actually a contractor, from that position, yes. But this certainly falls under the domain of the government or Danantara,” he said.
