WIKA Beton Showcases Earthquake-Resistant Modular Housing Technology at Danantara Housing Expo
WIKA Beton has introduced modular precast housing construction technology at the Danantara Housing Expo 2026. The technology is claimed to accelerate house construction while meeting the need for earthquake-resistant dwellings and using more environmentally friendly materials.
WIKA Beton Director of Engineering and Production Verly Widiantoro said the technology, named WHOME, was developed through joint research with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
“We are providing support so that the Three Million Houses Programme can be realised. With massive construction, one of the challenges is speed. The WHOME innovation attempts to answer that,” Verly said in a press release on Sunday (30/8/2026).
WHOME uses a modular precast concept. House components are produced in a factory, then transported to the construction site and assembled. According to Verly, WIKA Beton has conducted two field tests. The house structure can be completed in about two days, while construction up to the furnished stage takes about 10 days.
In addition to accelerating construction, the technology was developed with attention to earthquake resistance. Its development involved BRIN and refers to Indonesian National Standards (SNI).
WIKA Beton also uses industrial waste materials, including fly ash from coal waste and slag from iron waste, as part of the building materials. “So we are utilising waste products, and that is its green feature,” he said.
The technology has been used in housing construction in Aceh Tamiang. Verly said the project’s limited vehicle access, worker accommodation, and water supply were among the reasons for using a faster construction method.
For projects with special conditions, WIKA Beton can use a mobile plant concept, or a production facility placed closer to the project site. According to Verly, production capacity for the Tamiang development can reach about 5,000 houses per month. “With all the limitations, we can quickly build houses there,” he said.
WIKA Beton is showcasing WHOME at the Danantara Housing Expo 2026, held at NICE PIK 2 Jakarta. The technology is one of the alternative construction methods to support housing needs under the Three Million Houses Programme.
Meanwhile, Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Roeslani said meeting housing needs is not only about the availability of dwellings, but also public access to financing.
Danantara is synergising the state-owned property ecosystem, the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), and private developers at the expo. One of the schemes offered is a down payment starting from 1 percent and long financing tenors.
“Through this expo, we are striving to present the best supply at affordable prices, competitive financing schemes, and most importantly, easier access for the public to realise their dream homes,” Rosan said.
