PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to strengthen its contribution to national strategic infrastructure development through the Gospier Pier Revitalisation Project in East Java. This project is a crucial part of supporting the smooth distribution of energy, particularly fuel, LPG, and avtur, for the Surabaya region and its surroundings. The Gospier Pier plays a strategic role as one of the main routes in the national energy supply chain. Through this revitalisation, WIKA is striving to deliver pier facilities that are more reliable, safe, and capable of supporting sustainable energy distribution activities. As of May 2026, the project progress has reached 55.77%. A number of major works have been completed, including the construction of pier protection, dredging of the water area, and the building of supporting facilities such as a Guard House and Panel Room. Currently, work is continuing on the construction of pier access, ship berthing areas, the pier head, and connecting routes to the main facilities. In this project, WIKA is undertaking various scopes of work ranging from project preparation, technical planning, underwater surveys, construction works, piping, electrical systems, and safety systems, through to the final testing phase before the facility can be optimally utilised. WIKA Corporate Secretary, Ngatemin, stated that the revitalisation of the Gospier Pier is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to strengthening national energy infrastructure. He expressed hope that the project would support the smooth distribution of national energy, strengthen logistics connectivity, and provide tangible benefits for the project owner, the community, and Indonesia’s economic development. The project implementation faces several challenges, including the need to reinforce the existing pier structure, construction work in marine areas, limited working space due to the terminal remaining operational, and the dynamics of weather and the marine environment. Furthermore, adjustments to on-site working methods are necessary when materials or obstacles are discovered beneath the seabed. To maintain progress and work quality, WIKA is implementing various strategies, such as increasing resources, adjusting working hours, accelerating the technical planning process, and strengthening coordination with all stakeholders. WIKA also consistently prioritises quality, occupational safety, and risk management at every stage of the work. In its execution, WIKA is also applying several innovations to support on-site work effectiveness. One such innovation involves a foundation testing method to help identify subsea conditions more accurately. Additionally, WIKA is using special protective materials on steel pipes to make the pier structure more resistant to the marine environment. Through the Gospier Pier Revitalisation, WIKA hopes the project can support the smooth distribution of energy, improve transportation efficiency, strengthen the national logistics network, and contribute to the sustainable economic growth of East Java and Indonesia.
