WIKA Accelerates Revitalisation of Gospier Pier in East Java
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to strengthen its contribution to national strategic infrastructure development through the Gospier Jetty Revitalisation Project in East Java. The project forms an important part of efforts to support the smooth distribution of energy, particularly fuel oil, LPG and avtur, for the Surabaya region and its surroundings.
The Gospier Jetty plays a strategic role as one of the main routes in the national energy supply chain. Through this revitalisation, WIKA is working to deliver jetty facilities that are more reliable and safe, and capable of supporting energy distribution activities on a sustainable basis.
As of May 2026, project progress had reached 55.77 per cent. A number of major works have been completed, including construction of the jetty protection system, dredging of the waters, and the building of supporting facilities such as a guard house and panel room. Work is currently continuing on the jetty access, vessel berthing area, jetty head, and connecting routes to the main facilities.
In this project, WIKA is carrying out a wide range of works, from project preparation and technical planning, underwater surveys, construction work, piping and electrical installation, safety systems, through to final testing before the facilities can be used optimally.
WIKA Corporate Secretary Ngatemin said the Gospier Jetty revitalisation reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of national energy infrastructure.
“The Gospier Jetty revitalisation is part of WIKA’s commitment to delivering port infrastructure that is more reliable, safe and sustainable. We hope this project can support the smooth distribution of national energy, strengthen logistics connectivity, and provide tangible benefits for the project owner, the community, and Indonesia’s economic development,” Ngatemin said.
The implementation of the project faces a number of challenges, ranging from the need to reinforce the existing jetty, construction work in the waters, limited working space because the terminal remains in operation, to weather dynamics and the marine environment. In addition, working methods in the field must also be adjusted when materials or obstacles are discovered beneath the seabed.
To maintain progress and work quality, WIKA is applying various strategies, such as adding resources, adjusting working hours, accelerating technical planning processes, and strengthening coordination with all stakeholders. WIKA also consistently prioritises quality, occupational safety, and risk management at every stage of the work.
During implementation, WIKA has also applied a number of innovations to support the effectiveness of work in the field. One of these is a foundation testing method to help identify underwater conditions more accurately. In addition, WIKA is using special protective materials on steel pipes so that the jetty structure is more resistant to the marine environment.
Through the Gospier Jetty Revitalisation, WIKA hopes the project can support the smooth distribution of energy, improve transport efficiency, strengthen the national logistics network, and contribute to the sustainable economic growth of East Java and Indonesia.
