WIKA Accelerates Jenelata Dam Construction to Bolster Water Security and Flood Control

Gowa (ANTARA) – PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting national water resource infrastructure development through the Jenelata Dam project in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The project is being built to strengthen flood control, provide raw water supply, support agricultural irrigation, and enhance energy resilience while driving regional development.

As of July 2026, the physical construction progress of the Jenelata Dam has reached 32.49%. Work is currently focused on completing the main spillway structure along with supporting infrastructure, such as access roads, building relocation, and various other ancillary works. Overall, the project is proceeding according to plan whilst prioritising quality, safety, and timeliness.

WIKA’s Corporate Secretary, Ngatemin, said that the Jenelata Dam is one of the strategic projects that will deliver long-term benefits to communities through the provision of reliable water resource infrastructure.

“WIKA is committed to ensuring that the Jenelata Dam project continues to run safely, to the required quality standards, and on target. This dam is expected to bring significant benefits to communities through flood control, raw water provision, support for the agricultural sector, and the promotion of sustainable regional development,” said Ngatemin.

In its execution, WIKA is also applying various innovations to improve project efficiency and sustainability, including the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for three-dimensional construction modelling, an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for project management, and the deployment of solar panels and electric operational vehicles as part of a more environmentally friendly approach to construction.

Going forward, the Jenelata Dam is expected to increase flood control capacity in the downstream area of the Jeneberang River, guarantee the availability of raw water and agricultural irrigation services, support energy resilience through hydropower potential, and open up new economic development opportunities in the tourism and fisheries sectors. Through this project, WIKA remains committed to delivering infrastructure that provides tangible benefits to communities whilst supporting Indonesia’s sustainable development.
