WIKA Accelerates Construction of Sekolah Rakyat in Central Java
PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, or WIKA, is accelerating the construction of Sekolah Rakyat in Central Java as a form of support for the government programme to provide more equitable access to education. The project, which falls under the Ministry of Public Works, is spread across four regencies: Banyumas, Wonosobo, Brebes, and Cilacap. The development of Sekolah Rakyat is one of the government’s efforts to provide adequate, inclusive, and accessible educational facilities, particularly for communities in need of better learning access. This programme is also aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, specifically the fourth mission, which is to strengthen human resource development through improved access and quality of education. Through this project, WIKA acts as a construction partner in delivering educational infrastructure that focuses not only on physical completion but also on long-term social benefits for the community. WIKA’s Corporate Secretary, Ngatemin, stated that the acceleration of the Sekolah Rakyat construction in Central Java is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Public Works in delivering infrastructure that has a direct impact on the community. “WIKA fully supports the Ministry of Public Works’ efforts to provide adequate and equitable educational facilities through the construction of Sekolah Rakyat in Central Java. With ready workforce, materials, equipment, and on-site acceleration strategies, WIKA is committed to maintaining work progress so that it can be completed on target and provide immediate benefits to the community,” Ngatemin said in an official statement. As of early June 2026, the construction progress of the Sekolah Rakyat in Central Java continues to show development. The Banyumas Regency project has reached 76.22%, followed by Wonosobo Regency at 56.32%, Cilacap Regency at 49.46%, and Brebes Regency at 47.61%. Currently, work on site is proceeding in parallel, ranging from substructure and superstructure works, steel roof trusses, roof covering, architectural finishing, to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works. Overall, the construction of the Sekolah Rakyat in the four regencies involves 4,483 workers. To keep the execution on track, WIKA has implemented a number of acceleration strategies at each project location. These strategies include increasing the workforce, optimising heavy equipment, accelerating material mobilisation, adding stockyard and warehouse areas, and adjusting work methods to make the work more effective. On the Banyumas Regency project, acceleration is being achieved by increasing the workforce from 1,200 to 1,700 people, adding mobile cranes to 14 units for steel roof erection work, and ensuring 100% material fulfilment on site by 7 June 2026. Furthermore, the access road work has been 100% completed to facilitate work mobilisation. In Wonosobo Regency, WIKA has increased the workforce from 1,100 to 1,200 people, added excavators, hyab cranes, and concrete pumps, and increased the number of batching plant suppliers from two to four. WIKA also implemented a change in the second-floor slab method to a bondek slab to accelerate structural work. Meanwhile, on the Brebes Regency project, acceleration is being carried out by increasing the workforce for steel erection work to 320 people, as well as adding mobile cranes, excavators, dozers, and pumps. WIKA is also accelerating the delivery of 2,250 tonnes of steel structures and 13,183 square metres of HCS material to support smooth work flow. As for Cilacap Regency, WIKA has increased its workforce to 1,200 people, added tower cranes, mobile cranes, excavators, and pumps, and expanded the number of batching plant suppliers from three to six. The steel fabrication process is also being decentralised across six locations so that the supply of materials can be faster and more efficient. All Sekolah Rakyat projects in Central Java are targeted for completion on 20 June 2026. Through this acceleration, WIKA seeks to ensure optimal construction so that these educational facilities can be utilised by the community immediately. With the construction of Sekolah Rakyat, WIKA continues to strengthen its role as a government partner, particularly for the Ministry of Public Works, in delivering social infrastructure that supports educational equity and the improvement of Indonesia’s human resource quality.
