Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, or WIKA, is accelerating the construction of Community Schools (Sekolah Rakyat) in Central Java as a form of support for the government’s programme to provide more equitable access to education. The project, under the Ministry of Public Works (PU), is spread across four districts: Banyumas, Wonosobo, Brebes, and Cilacap.

The construction of Community Schools is one of the government’s efforts to provide decent, inclusive, and easily accessible educational facilities, particularly for communities in need of better learning access. This programme is also aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, specifically the fourth principle, which is strengthening human resource development through increased access to and quality of education.

Through this project, WIKA acts as a construction implementation partner in delivering educational infrastructure that focuses not only on physical completion but also on long-term social benefits for the community.

WIKA’s Corporate Secretary conveyed that the acceleration of Community School construction in Central Java is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Public Works in delivering infrastructure that has a direct impact on society.

‘WIKA fully supports the Ministry of Public Works’ efforts to provide decent and equitable educational facilities through the construction of Community Schools in Central Java. With the readiness of manpower, materials, equipment, and on-site acceleration strategies, WIKA is committed to maintaining work progress so that it can be completed on target and immediately benefit the community,’ said WIKA’s Corporate Secretary.

As of early June 2026, the construction progress of the Community Schools in Central Java continues to show development. The Community School project in Banyumas Regency has reached 76.22 per cent, followed by Wonosobo Regency at 56.32 per cent, Cilacap Regency at 49.46 per cent, and Brebes Regency at 47.61 per cent.

Currently, work on the ground is being carried out in parallel, ranging from substructure and superstructure, steel roof trusses, roof covering, architectural finishing, to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works. Overall, the construction of Community Schools in the four districts involves 4,483 workers.

To ensure implementation remains on target, WIKA is deploying a number of acceleration strategies at each project site. These strategies include additional manpower, optimisation of heavy equipment, acceleration of material mobilisation, the addition of stockyard and warehouse areas, as well as adjustments to working methods to make the work more effective.

On the Banyumas Regency Community School Project, acceleration has been achieved by increasing the workforce from 1,200 to 1,700 people, adding mobile cranes to 14 units for steel roof erection work, and fulfilling 100 per cent of materials on site by 7 June 2026. In addition, access road works have also been 100 per cent completed to facilitate work mobilisation.

In Wonosobo Regency, WIKA increased the workforce from 1,100 to 1,200 people, added excavators, hyab cranes, and concrete pumps, and increased the number of batching plant suppliers from two to four. WIKA also changed the construction method for the second-floor slab to a Bondek slab to accelerate structural work.

Meanwhile, on the Brebes Regency Community School Project, acceleration was carried out by increasing the workforce for steel erection work to 320 people, as well as adding mobile cranes, excavators, dozers, and pumps. WIKA also accelerated the delivery of 2,250 tonnes of steel structures and 13,183 m² of HCS material to support work progress.

As for Cilacap Regency, WIKA increased the workforce to 1,200 people, added tower cranes, mobile cranes, excavators, and pumps, and increased the number of batching plant suppliers from three to six. The steel fabrication process is also being carried out in a decentralised manner at six locations so that the material supply is faster and more efficient.

All Community School projects in Central Java are targeted for completion by 20 June 2026. Through this acceleration, WIKA is striving to ensure construction runs optimally so that these educational facilities can be immediately utilised by the community.

Through the construction of Community Schools, WIKA continues to strengthen its role as a government partner, particularly the Ministry of Public Works, in delivering social infrastructure that supports equal education and the improvement of the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
