Wihaji Visits Outer and Inner Baduy: Reviews Family Planning, Immunisation, and Expands 3B Free Nutritious Meals Programme
This activity forms part of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) Service Month, the 75th IBI Anniversary, and World Immunisation Week under the Indonesia Free Zero Dose Programme. Immunisation services were conducted simultaneously by midwives, alongside family planning services through partnerships with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection/BKKBN. The event also launched the Midwife Family Foster Care for Stunting Risk (KRS) programme to strengthen support for stunting-risk families. After the Outer Baduy, Wihaji continued his visit to the Inner Baduy to discuss the expansion of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) 3B programme targeting pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. The visit was conducted through a ‘Sapa Budaya’ approach to ensure programme implementation respects the local customs and traditions. “In the Outer and Inner Baduy communities, there are pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. I believe these individuals, as part of our diversity, must be respected as cultural preservation and Indonesia’s diversity, and they deserve their rights to MBG,” said Wihaji in a written statement on Monday (4/5/2026). “Last night we talked, there are several bright spots for BGN as the authority on MBG issues. Since we, based on Perpres 115, have the authority to distribute and educate on MBG 3B, we discussed conveying the enthusiasm of the Outer and Inner Baduy residents who are willing to receive MBG, of course in ways that respect proposals from the Outer and Inner Baduy customs,” he added. This step demonstrates the government’s efforts to expand equitable access to health and nutrition services, including for indigenous communities.
