WIFI Launches Internet Rakyat: 100 Mbps Broadband for Rp 100,000 a Month
JAKARTA - PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (WIFI) through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama (Telemedia) has officially launched Internet Rakyat (IRA) simultaneously in Region I covering Java, Maluku, and Papua. The launch is said to accelerate national digital access equality through affordable telecommunications infrastructure development and utilisation for Indonesian citizens. WIFI President Director Yune Marketatmo said IRA provides fixed broadband internet service at 100 Mbps for Rp 100,000 per month. The service aims to expand public access to education, digital economy, public services, entertainment, and new opportunities in the digital era. Currently, fixed broadband internet services in Indonesia average around Rp 300,000 per month with relatively low speeds of about 40 Mbps. Therefore, the introduction of Internet Rakyat is expected to be a game changer for the national broadband industry. Shannedy noted that affordable internet services can bring significant changes for the public. Through IRA, customers are offered fixed broadband internet at Rp 100,000 net per month with speeds up to 100 Mbps. ‘Earlier, the Deputy Minister (of Communications and Digital Affairs) mentioned that the current average price is around Rp 300,000, as remembered. Rp 300,000 with relatively low speeds of about 40 Mbps. IRA is a game changer,’ he said. The scheme is seen as a new chapter in expanding affordable, high-speed internet access in the country, especially for communities previously limited by competitive broadband services. ‘As a company, we are the game changer. But for the people, this is like a new oasis, with a low price of Rp 100,000 net and speeds up to 100 Mbps,’ he added. Internet Rakyat is a fixed broadband service from WIFI via Telemedia designed to provide fast, quality, and affordable internet access for Indonesians. Utilising 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology on the 1.4GHz spectrum and supported by Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) networks, IRA is presented as a more efficient connectivity solution to accelerate national broadband equality, including in areas with limited conventional cable infrastructure. The service is delivered via radio signals from transmission towers to customer antennas, then to modems/routers for use across devices. Potential customers can register independently via the app or website or through official Internet Rakyat sales representatives in their area. It offers a single 30-day package with speeds up to 100 Mbps. For implementation in Region I, IRA infrastructure currently supports over 550 active sites as of 26 May 2026 and 3,189 installed radio units operating in over 82 cities and regencies across Java, Maluku, and Papua. This infrastructure is crucial for expanding high-speed fixed broadband access to previously underserved regions.
