Silvia Rinita Harefa, wife of former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer, alias Noel, visited her husband at the KPK prison during the Idul Adha 1447 H period. She revealed Noel’s plea for a swift sentencing.

“He just said he hopes this case concludes quickly, that the court proceedings wrap up soon. He wants to be sentenced swiftly. We’re waiting for the sentence on June 4th,” Silvia told reporters at the KPK prison in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

Silvia also expressed hope that Noel’s sentence would be fair. She did not deny wanting her husband to be released.

“If it’s the sentence, I hope the judges will impose the lightest and fairest punishment possible for Noel. We’re praying for that. Deep down, I just want him freed,” Silvia said.

In addition to exchanging stories, Silvia said she brought food for Noel, including mutton biryani.

“I brought biryani. Since there’s a committee, we paid the coordinator. There was biryani, oranges, and pastries,” Silvia said.

“And drinks were two glasses of coconut water. Later, there was chicken and fish—tilapia, I think—with asam soup,” she added.

It is worth noting that Noel’s sentencing hearing for the extortion case involving OSH certificate processing will take place next week. The judges will deliver the verdict during this session.

“The sentencing hearing will resume on Thursday, 4 June 2026. The defendant remains in custody and in good health,” said Chief Judge Nur Sari Baktiana at the Jakarta Central Corruption Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.

Previously, prosecutors demanded a five-year prison sentence for Noel, believing him guilty of bribery and extortion related to OSH certificate processing at the Ministry of Manpower.

“Imposing a prison sentence of five years on defendant Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan,” the prosecutor stated during the sentencing hearing at the Jakarta Central Corruption Court on Monday, 18 May.

Prosecutors demanded Noel pay a fine of Rp 250 million, with 90 days in prison if unpaid. Additionally, they sought restitution of Rp 4.435 billion, minus the Rp 3 billion he had already returned, leaving a balance of Rp 1.435 billion.

Prosecutors believe Noel received illicit funds totalling Rp 6.5 billion from OSH certificate processing. The money was provided by other Ministry of Manpower civil servants who are also defendants in the case.

“Evidence shows that Defendants I Temurila and II Miki Mahfud repeatedly provided money directly, totalling Rp 6.580.860.000 or approximately that amount, to Hery Sutanto, Gerry Aditya, Irvian Bobby, Sekarsari, Anitasari, and Supriadi, who then passed it on to Fahrurozi and Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan,” the prosecutor stated.
