The wife of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Eny Retno, visited her husband at the KPK detention centre during Eid al-Adha 1447 H today. Eny brought fried tempe for Yaqut.

During her visit to the KPK detention centre’s Merah Putih building in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, Eny brought Yaqut’s favourite fried tempe and other food items. For Eid al-Adha, she did not bring traditional Eid foods such as ketupat, vegetables, or meat as her husband cannot consume coconut milk.

“I definitely sent fried tempe, his favourite. As for cooked meals, that’s all for now, along with some regular vegetables for daily meals. Cooked food doesn’t last long, so mostly bread and dry snacks,” Eny told reporters at the KPK detention centre.

“He has GERD, so he cannot eat anything with coconut milk. He isn’t too fond of meat, so thankfully it’s mostly light meals. He isn’t too particular about food, but due to his GERD, he must be careful,” she added.

Eny reported that Yaqut is in good health during this Eid al-Adha. The family has not requested house arrest this time, unlike during Eid al-Fitr.

“Not this time. We hope for his release; everyone wishes for Father to return home. Please pray that this auspicious day brings good fortune for our family,” Eny said.

During the three-hour meeting with Yaqut, Eny did not discuss the case at all. She said they had agreed not to talk about the case when with their children.

“No discussion of the case. Father never talks about it with us. I’m committed to that; he handles discussions with lawyers. When with me and the children, we talk about the kids and family matters to provide emotional support, as even the strongest person would feel distressed being separated from loved ones,” she added.

It is known that the KPK previously changed Yaqut’s status to house arrest. He was released from the KPK detention centre and placed under house arrest during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Yaqut, a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case, was under house arrest since Thursday, 19 March. The KPK later reverted his status to detention on Tuesday, 24 March.
