Wife Reveals Noel Ebenezer Urges Swift Verdict in K3 Corruption Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Labour Minister Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, known as Noel, hopes the corruption case involving the handling of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certification certificates will be swiftly concluded to provide legal certainty regarding his fate.
Noel expressed this hope to his wife, Silvia Rinita Harefa, during a family visit at the KPK detention facility on Eid al-Adha, Wednesday (27/5/2026).
‘He said he hopes the K3 trial concludes quickly so he can be sentenced promptly. We’ll see how things are by June 4,’ Silvia said after meeting Noel.
‘If there’s a verdict, we hope the panel of judges imposes the lightest and fairest sentence on Noel. We’re praying for that. Deep down, we wish for his release,’ Silvia added.
She added that the family visit at the KPK detention facility felt warm, akin to the Eid al-Adha tradition of maintaining family ties.
During the visit, Silvia and her family brought food for Noel.
‘There was nasi kebuli, oranges, two glasses of coconut water, and later some chicken and tilapia rice,’ she said.
Noel faces a five-year prison sentence and a Rp250 million fine after prosecutors found him guilty of corruption in a case involving alleged extortion in K3 certification processing.
‘The defendant Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan is sentenced to five years in prison,’ the prosecutor stated during a hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) on Monday (18/5/2026).
Prosecutors stated Noel received a total of Rp4.435 billion in the case, comprising a Rp1 billion bribe and Rp3.435 billion in gratuities.
In addition to money, Noel is accused of receiving a luxury item: a Ducati Scrambler motorcycle.
‘And a Ducati Scrambler motorcycle with registration number B 4225 SUQ from Bobby Mahendro valued at Rp600 million,’ the prosecutor added.
‘Thus, the restitution amount imposed on defendant Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan is Rp1.435 billion,’ the prosecutor said.
If the restitution is not paid, Noel faces an additional two-year prison sentence.
Noel is scheduled for sentencing on June 4, 2026.
