Wife of South Sulawesi DPRD Member Killed in Makassar Toll Road Accident, Vehicle Severely Damaged

Makassar — The wife of South Sulawesi Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) member Capt Hariadi, named Hj Wardana Mamung, has died following a single-vehicle accident in which her car struck a tree and a concrete barrier on a toll road.

The victim is believed to have lost control whilst travelling at high speed on the Ir Sutami toll road in Makassar, South Sulawesi. This was confirmed by the Chairwoman of the South Sulawesi DPRD, Andi Rachmatika Dewi.

“It is true, Hj Warda [the wife of Capt Hariadi] was involved in an accident. I have just received the information directly from the Makassar Metropolitan Police Chief. We extend our condolences and hope the family is granted acceptance and fortitude,” she said on Saturday, 21 February 2026.

Separately, Corporate Communications representative of PT Makassar Metro Network–PT Jalan Tol Seksi Empat, Achmad Syauki, confirmed that a single-vehicle accident had occurred on the toll road at kilometre 7+200 that afternoon.

“Yes, it is true that an accident occurred on the section four toll road heading towards the airport at kilometre 7+200. The report was received by the Makassar toll road communications centre at approximately 1.53pm Central Indonesian Time,” said Achmad.

The vehicle, a white Toyota Raize with registration number DD 1305 WA, sustained severe damage to the front and middle sections of the body, with the windscreen shattered. The car is believed to have struck a tree and the concrete wall of the toll road before coming to rest in a small drainage ditch.

The accident went viral on social media, with video footage showing the badly dented vehicle. A blue garment bearing the inscription “DPRD Sulsel” was visible, and the victim could be seen still inside the car.

Shortly after the incident, toll road personnel and police officers evacuated the victim from the vehicle, placing her in a body bag. Moments later, a young girl arrived at the scene and attempted to open the body bag, crying out hysterically for her mother.

Police at the scene are currently conducting an investigation, gathering evidence, witness statements, and CCTV footage from the toll road operator to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
