Wife of South Sulawesi DPRD Member Killed After Car Crashes into Makassar Toll Road Barrier

The wife of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) provincial legislator Capt Hariadi, Wardhana Mamung, was killed in an accident on the Makassar toll road in South Sulawesi. The vehicle she was driving struck the toll road barrier, leaving it severely damaged.

“Yes, it is true — Hj Warda, wife of Capt Hariadi. I have just received the information directly from the Makassar Metropolitan Police Chief. Our deepest condolences; may the family be granted acceptance and fortitude,” said South Sulawesi DPRD Chairwoman Andi Rachmatika Dewi on Saturday (21/2/2026).

The traffic accident occurred at Kilometre 7+200 on Toll Road Section 4 on Saturday (21/2) at approximately 1.53pm Central Indonesian Time. The incident was a single-vehicle accident involving a white Toyota Raize heading towards the airport.

“The information we received is that the driver died,” said Achmad Syauki, Corporate Communications representative of PT Makassar Metro Network–PT Jalan Tol Seksi Empat.

Circulating video footage showed the white Raize, bearing registration plate DD-1305-WA, severely damaged after striking the toll barrier. The car was crushed from the front through to the side, with the windscreen shattered.

Makassar Toll Road Highway Patrol officers and police who arrived at the scene immediately evacuated the victim, who was trapped inside the vehicle. Meanwhile, separate footage showed a body bag containing the victim’s remains.
