Wife of Cigarette Boss HS Dies in Motorcycle Collision with Jupiter in Kulon Progo
Tobacco entrepreneur ‘HS’ and founder of Surya Group H. Muhammad Suryo was involved in a motorcycle accident in Kapanewon Temon, Kulon Progo. The incident resulted in the death of Anis Syarifah, Suryo’s wife.
The incident was confirmed by Panewu Ngaglik Wawan Widiantoro, who verified that Suryo and his wife were involved in a motorcycle accident whilst riding in Temon, Kulon Progo, on Sunday, 1 March in the afternoon.
“It is true, sir, Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” said Wawan when contacted by journalists on Monday, 2 March 2026.
He stated that Anis’s body was buried the same day at Tajem Muslim Cemetery, Sleman.
“At Tajem Muslim cemetery, Maguwoharjo. They left from the funeral house at approximately 12:30 WIB,” he said.
Regarding Suryo’s condition, Wawan said he remains receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, floral tributes from various figures and companies filled the area around the funeral home in a residential complex in Sardonoharjo, Ngaglik. The wreaths lined the street entrance and pathway leading to Suryo’s house.
Kulon Progo Police Explanation
Meanwhile, Kulon Progo Police Public Relations Officer Iptu Sarjoko, when contacted, explained the details of the accident. He stated that the fatal accident occurred on Sunday, 1 March in the afternoon.
“It is confirmed that a traffic accident occurred involving large-capacity motorcycles on Sunday, 1 March 2026 at 4:45 PM on Wates-Purworejo Road, Mlangsen four-way intersection, Palihan, Temon,” said Sarjoko in a written statement received on Monday, 2 March.
Sarjoko explained that the large-capacity motorcycle was ridden by a man with initials MS carrying a female passenger AS. The Jupiter motorcycle was ridden by AA carrying a passenger DN.
“The accident resulted in AS, the passenger on the large-capacity motorcycle, dying,” he said.
Sarjoko stated that further details regarding the chronology of events remain under investigation by Kulon Progo Police Traffic Unit. Police have completed the crime scene investigation using TAA (Traffic Accident Analysis) methodology to analyse the accident.
“This process is conducted to ensure accurate chronology of events, collect evidence, and compile necessary data to determine the precise cause of the accident,” he said.
“We are also continuing intensive questioning of witnesses at the accident location and other related parties,” he added.
Sarjoko also stated that investigation results, particularly conclusions regarding the accident’s cause, cannot yet be released as the process remains ongoing.
“We want to ensure all facts are collected objectively and professionally. Further developments will be communicated once the crime scene investigation and inquiry are deemed complete,” he concluded.
