Wife kills husband in Tangerang following quarrel over his wish to remarry
EM (25) stabbed her husband, identified as J alias Andi (53), to death in Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency. The murder stemmed from an argument over the victim’s desire to marry again.
Public Relations Head of the Banten Police, Kombes Maruli Hutapea, said the incident occurred on Thursday (5 March) at 6:00 pm WIB. At that time, the victim came to EM’s house, who was his second wife in Kampung Pinang, Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency.
Initially, the victim bathed and asked his mother-in-law, SR, to prepare clothes. However, the mother-in-law and the perpetrator instead prayed and did not prepare clothes. There, the perpetrator became angry and SR took the victim into a room to calm down.
Maruli said the perpetrator then followed into the room and began arguing about her husband who wanted to marry again.
“Then the alleged perpetrator also entered, saying, ‘If you want to marry, go ahead, but set me free,’ and the victim replied, ‘Yes, that’s right, what business is it of yours, it’s my right to marry again,’” he said.
The quarrel continued. The victim became angry and struck the wardrobe glass until it shattered. The victim continued shouting, while the perpetrator panicked and picked up a machete from the cupboard.
“In a pressured, panicked state, the alleged perpetrator seized the blade-type machete stored in the cupboard. The alleged perpetrator is believed to have delivered four attacks with that weapon toward the victim,” he said.
In the first attack, the victim was not injured because the weapon sheath had not been removed. However, the perpetrator swung the weapon again, hitting several parts of the victim’s body.
“The victim sustained serious injuries to the head and arms as he tried to shield himself, and to the legs,” he said.
Seeing the victim incapacitated by fatal injuries, the alleged perpetrator remained at the scene until the victim was pronounced dead at 10:00 pm WIB.
