Universitas Widyatama Bandung celebrated its 25th anniversary with a fun run event titled SyukuRun 2026 on Sunday, 23 August. The event was attended by the academic community, students, and alumni. Thousands of participants ran a 3-kilometre route starting from the Widyatama campus, passing through Jalan Cikutra-Pahlawan-Surapati, and finishing back at the campus. The event also featured a best costume competition, entertainment, and attractive door prizes.

Rector Widyatama, Prof Dadang Suganda, stated that the fun run with the theme SyukuRun aimed to create togetherness within the internal and external ecosystem so that everyone could move in the same direction. ‘We also invited several partners from higher education institutions, the private sector, alumni, and teachers. The goal is for them to get to know us internally in a casual context,’ he said.

According to Dadang, the anniversary served as a reflection on how the campus was founded 25 years ago. ‘We examine, we maintain, what the problems are, what the empty spaces are. Then we want to move forward in accordance with the minister’s direction because the policies are very dynamic,’ he explained. The university will accommodate ministerial policies, observe the condition of society so that the campus can have an impact, and assess the internal strengths of Universitas Widyatama.

‘We will create an ecosystem for that progress. The target is to be excellent, rooted, beneficial, and independent. This activity was attended by nearly 1,200 participants, firstly from internal Widyatama, secondly alumni, and thirdly from guidance counselling teacher partners,’ he added. The campus also involved MSMEs and relations from within and outside the country. Partners appreciated the activity as it allowed them to get to know Universitas Widyatama more closely.

‘Three years ago we did something like this, and going forward it will be held regularly every year. Hopefully the public will get to know Widyatama. We want to create a kind of togetherness ecosystem with the community because the impact is now extraordinary,’ he continued.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof Reiza D Dienaputra, added that the anniversary included both academic and non-academic activities. Academic activities had been ongoing since July 2026, including public lectures featuring important figures from government circles, ranging from the Director General of Infrastructure Financing, the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, to the Secretary of a Directorate General within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The three public lectures demonstrated that Universitas Widyatama not only interacts with private and public universities but also builds relationships with the government. ‘From these public lectures, we gained many insights, especially regarding how Universitas Widyatama can strengthen its impact on society, whether in education, research, or community service,’ he concluded.
