Widow in Bima Found Dead at Home, Police Arrest Neighbour
A widow and mother of two was found dead in her bedroom in Bolo Village, Madapangga District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Police subsequently arrested her neighbour, identified by the initials MS (50).
‘The deceased victim is a woman with the initials SR, aged 38,’ said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bima Police, First Inspector Ghufron Subeki, in a written statement on Monday (3/8/2026).
Ghufron revealed that SR’s body was discovered by her two daughters. They had just returned from attending a wedding at the Bolo Branch Terminal on Sunday (2/8/2026) afternoon.
‘Both children found the victim lying lifeless on the bed in the bedroom of the house,’ Ghufron stated.
Officers from the Madapangga Police Station who received the information immediately went to the crime scene. Upon arrival, officers found three empty cans of fizzy drink, one strip of ampicillin medication with three tablets already consumed, one strip of mefenamic acid medication with four tablets consumed, two tins of cooling powder, and a glass of bottled mineral water mixed with the powder.
The Bima Police Criminal Investigation Unit’s forensic team processed the crime scene and took the widow’s body to the Sondosia Regional General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Initial examination results indicated no wounds or signs of violence were found on the victim’s body. An autopsy was not performed as it was declined by the family.
Following the discovery of SR’s body, a joint team from the Madapangga Police Station and the Bima Police Criminal Investigation Unit detained MS on Monday (3/8/2026). MS is a man known to be the victim’s neighbour.
Based on the victim’s children’s statements to the police, before their mother was found dead, they overheard a conversation between their mother and a man in the bedroom on Saturday (1/8/2026) at around 11.50 pm Central Indonesian Time. Upon checking, it turned out the man talking to their mother was MS.
‘When caught by the victim’s children, MS briefly hid inside a wardrobe. Shortly after that, he fled and escaped,’ Ghufron explained.
MS’s presence at SR’s house was noticed by residents, who immediately gave chase. However, MS managed to evade the residents that night and turned himself in at the Madapangga Police Station the following day.
‘Currently, MS has been detained at the Bima Police Station for further questioning,’ Ghufron concluded.
