Why Was Luke Thomas Mahony Appointed as PT DSI's Managing Director?

JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia has appointed Luke Thomas Mahony, former CEO of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO), as Managing Director of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).

PT DSI is a new BUMN established specifically to manage the export of strategic natural resources.

The reason for Luke’s selection is his strong track record.

“Indeed, there were many considerations, including his track record. He has a strong understanding of his previous experience at multinational companies like Vale,” said Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday, May 22, 2026.

“He also speaks Indonesian, and his wife is Indonesian,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rosan noted that Luke has extensive experience managing companies in the minerals sector.

Furthermore, Luke’s performance during his time at Danantara was highly regarded.

“But most importantly, he has trading experience, expertise in minerals, leadership in multiple mineral companies, and a strong network. His work at Danantara has also been exceptional,” he said.
