Why Was Former Jampidsus Febrie Detained at the KPK Detention Centre? Analysis by an Ex-KPK Investigator

A former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator, Praswad Nugraha, supports the detention of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah at the KPK detention centre branch of the Merah Putih Building. Praswad views this as a demonstration of the Attorney General’s Office’s (Kejagung) seriousness in resolving the case.

Praswad stated that placing Febrie Adriansyah in the KPK detention centre is something that should be appreciated. It shows the Kejagung is serious about handling the case independently before the public.

“This is the right initial step because Febrie once held a strategic position as the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Kejagung, so without detention, legal certainty would be neglected and it could potentially provide an opening for efforts in the shadows to obstruct the investigation,” Praswad told reporters on Saturday (25/7/2026).

Praswad emphasised that the KPK detention centre is a symbol of a strong bastion of independence. This is because the KPK detention centre is said to have a strict supervision system with a zero-tolerance principle.

“Thus, it provides no room for special treatment of detainees,” Praswad stated.
