JAKARTA — General Agus Subiyanto, Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), has issued a Level 1 alert order across all ranks of the TNI as a precautionary measure against developments in the global situation, particularly the escalation of conflict in the Middle East region.

The order is detailed in TNI Commander Telegram No. TR/283/2026, signed by Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun, Deputy for Operations to the TNI Commander, on 1 March 2026.

The telegram states that all TNI units must increase operational readiness in line with growing international conflict dynamics and their potential impact on domestic security.

The Level 1 alert status became effective on 1 March 2026 until further notice.

First, the Commander of the Main Operations Command (Pangkotamaops) is directed to put personnel and major weapons systems on standby and conduct patrols of various strategic vital installations and economic centres. These patrols will cover airports, seaports and river ports, railway stations, bus terminals, and important facilities such as the state electricity company offices.

Third, the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) is directed to instruct defence attachés of the Republic of Indonesia in countries affected by the conflict to collect data and map the situation of Indonesian citizens (WNI).

The data collection also includes the preparation of evacuation plans should they be required at any time. This action must be coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian diplomatic representations in the relevant countries.

Fifth, TNI intelligence units are ordered to conduct early detection and prevention against potential security disruptions at vital installations and diplomatic zones.

Sixth, all central executive bodies (Balakpus) of the TNI are directed to implement alert readiness in their respective units.

Seventh, all developments in the situation must be immediately reported to the TNI Commander.
