Why Sacrificial Meat Must Be Distributed and Consumed Promptly

The organisation of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH sacrifices emphasises hygiene and prompt distribution. Sacrifice committees across regions are urged to distribute meat to beneficiaries without delay to preserve quality and ensure the full benefits of the ritual are realised.

There are three primary reasons—health, food quality, and religious adherence—that necessitate strict time management in processing and distribution.

Medically, meat is a perishable foodstuff. Bacteria begin to multiply on raw meat immediately upon exposure to air. Indonesia’s humid and hot temperatures accelerate spoilage if meat remains at room temperature for more than two hours.

Promptly distributed meat retains superior nutritional quality compared to meat that has undergone prolonged oxidation. Its texture remains tender, and myoglobin (oxygen-binding protein) is preserved, ensuring freshness when prepared by recipients.

Rapid distribution helps committees avoid organic waste buildup and foul odours at slaughter sites. Efficient delivery ensures all packages reach their intended recipients before the end of Tasyrik days.

If you receive sacrificial meat, take immediate steps to preserve its quality: Prompt distribution not only fulfils the religious obligation correctly but also demonstrates concern for beneficiaries’ health and dignity.

PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), through its DKM IMIP, distributed 1,800 meat packages to employees and local communities in the industrial area.

PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (Perseroda), or PT JIEP, distributed 34 sacrificial animals to communities across several areas of Jakarta in observance of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH.

The distribution of sacrificial animals also expresses gratitude to Allah SWT for His blessings, favours, and the continuity of business operations.

Rumah Amal Salman and Salman Mosque at ITB expanded their sacrificial animal distribution during Eid al-Adha 1447 AH, targeting disaster-affected regions nationwide.

The PPP’s central and Jakarta provincial leadership coordinated this year’s sacrifices at a single location before distributing meat to those in need.
