Why Purbaya Is Confident that DSI Will Provide Positive Sentiment to the Stock Market
INDONESIA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has commented on the creation of PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI) as a Special State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) for Exports. He is confident the body will lend positive sentiment to Indonesia’s stock market. According to Purbaya, the presence of the company could raise the profitability of commodity-based firms listed on the stock exchange. The reasoning is that profits previously enjoyed by foreign shareholders may be reflected more fairly for domestic shareholders.
“The potential for Indonesian companies listed on the exchange will be positive rather than negative. Because the profits previously taken by the main shareholders, who may be foreign players, will now be reflected fairly in their holders. If I’m not mistaken, profitability should be at least double,” Purbaya said at a press conference in the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, 20 May 2026, as quoted by Antara.
In the occasion, Purbaya expressed optimism that the formation of DSI would be a positive momentum for capital market investors. “So this is positive news for companies on the exchange, so profits will rally. So if I may say, it’s time to buy. Get ready to scoop it up.”
Previously the government formed PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia as a company with a special assignment to manage and oversee transactions of exports of strategic natural resource commodities. The formation of DSI was motivated by persistent practices of under invoicing and transfer pricing in several Indonesian export commodities over many years.
These practices are considered to negatively affect state revenue, both in terms of taxation, royalties, foreign exchange, and the validity of national trade data. Therefore Danantara established DSI as a platform to oversee transparency of export transactions, from volumes, prices, to the mechanism of shipping the commodities.
DSI will begin operating on 1 June 2026. During the first three months, export transactions will still be conducted directly between companies and buyers, but all export record-keeping will be managed by DSI.
Subsequently, the government will evaluate every three months before the company becomes the main operator of export commodity management, progressively. PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia is part of the government policy to strengthen state control over the export of strategic natural resources in line with the mandate of Article 33 Paragraph 3 of the 1945 Constitution.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, said that the formation of DSI is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to the Badan Pengaturan (BP) BUMN to improve governance of natural resource commodity trade so that it is more transparent and accountable.
“Therefore we have formed one body, which was first mentioned by the Coordinating Minister named PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia, where we want to emphasise that this is more about transaction transparency,” said Rosan.
