Why Pramono Plans to Review Padel Court Permits
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will summon all stakeholders regarding the controversy over permits and noise from padel courts in Jakarta. The statement was made in response to residents' complaints about padel court activities allegedly causing noise disturbance and suspected of not complying with permit conditions.
Pramono said the regional government would conduct a thorough evaluation of the licensing aspects and their impact on the surrounding environment. "Next week I will invite all stakeholders specifically related to these padel permits," he said when met at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
Pramono stated he would evaluate the operational permits of padel courts and would not tolerate business activities that violate regulations and harm the public. "For those in areas that disturb the community and do not comply with the permits granted, firm action will be taken," Pramono said.
According to him, the evaluation would involve relevant regional apparatus organisations, including agencies handling permits and spatial planning. The Jakarta Provincial Government, he said, wants to ensure that every sports business activity operates in accordance with regulations and does not disadvantage surrounding residents.
The padel court noise issue came to prominence following a post on the personal Instagram account @naufal******, cited on Thursday, 19 February 2026. In the post, the account owner said that January had been a "turning point" for his family, as they had to endure noise from a padel court in the Haji Nawi area, Cilandak, South Jakarta, every day.
"They take turns inflicting noise upon noise," the account wrote.
He wrote that the sporting activity ran from 06:00 until midnight. With an average playing duration of two to three hours per booking, the sound of matches was described as alternating without sufficient breaks. In the post, the account also shared audio recordings claimed to be noise from the padel court activities.
Pramono said the regional government would examine the compliance of operational permits with actual conditions on the ground. Should any violations or activities not in accordance with the permits granted be found, he assured that the government would take firm measures in accordance with prevailing regulations.
