Why Police Detained Richard Lee: He Did Not Attend Additional Questioning but Was Live on TikTok

Metro Jaya Regional Police detained suspect Richard Lee in a case of suspected violation of consumer protection related to beauty products and services. The Metro Jaya Police disclosed two reasons for Richard Lee’s detention.

‘Based on considerations that the suspect DRL’s actions are deemed to hinder the investigation, among others: the suspect did not attend the additional questioning on 3 March 2026 without providing a clear explanation. On that day, the suspect was observed to be live on a TikTok account,’ said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Friday (6 March 2026).

The second reason is that Richard Lee had previously ignored summons without a clear reason. On that basis, the police finally detained Richard Lee.

‘The suspect also failed to report on Monday, 23 February 2026 and Thursday, 5 March 2026 without a clear reason. On that basis, the detention of DRL was carried out at 21:50 at the Metro Jaya Police detention centre,’ he said.

Budi said before detaining him, the suspect underwent a health check by the Polda Metro Jaya Medical Service (Biddokes). The checks included blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and body temperature with normal results and the ability to carry on with usual activities.

‘Before detention, the suspect’s personal belongings not related to the ongoing investigation have been handed over to his legal counsel,’ he concluded.
