Why Omoway Chose Indonesia for its Expansion
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Electric motorcycle manufacturer, Omoway, is preparing to enter the Indonesian two-wheeled market with its first model, the Omo-X.
Indonesia was not chosen randomly. Omoway believes the national motorcycle market has enormous potential, especially for electric vehicles in the future.
General Manager of Omoway Indonesia, Yulong Chen, said that Indonesia is one of the largest two-wheeled markets in the world, with very high sales figures every year.
According to him, the younger generation in Indonesia is also increasingly open to technological developments and global trends.
This is one of the factors that makes Omoway optimistic about entering the country.
“The younger generation is now very international. They use TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and various other platforms,” said Chen.
“Most importantly, we see the economic development of Indonesia in the last 10 years,” he added.
Chen said that even though Indonesia’s economy is still below several other Southeast Asian countries, the potential for growth in the domestic electric vehicle market is considered much greater.
“Even though Indonesia’s economy is still below Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, the opportunities here are much greater,” he said.
According to him, Omoway is not only looking at the current market conditions, but also the long-term potential of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
For information, the Omo-X is the first model from Omoway prepared for the Indonesian market.
This electric motorcycle was previously introduced with a futuristic design and equipped with a number of modern technologies, including a self-balancing feature and an electronic-based driving assistance system.
In addition to the large market, the development of the national electric vehicle ecosystem is also starting to grow, from charging infrastructure to government regulatory support.
