Why is the TNI Providing Orientation to LPDP Scholarship Recipients?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) is involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the orientation for LPDP scholarship recipients. This involvement is manifested through the support of the Indonesian Air Force in facilitating the Departure Preparation Programme (PK) held by LPDP at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta, from Monday (4/5/2026) to Saturday (9/5/2026). “Regarding that information, it is true that the Indonesian Air Force is facilitating the implementation of the Departure Preparation Programme (PK) organised by LPDP at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base,” said the Head of the Air Force Information Service, First Marshal I Nyoman Suadnyana, to Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026). “As part of the orientation before entering the study period,” he added. In this programme, participants receive materials focused on strengthening mental readiness, discipline, leadership, as well as instilling values of love for the homeland and character building. These materials are delivered by presenters from various government agencies. Personnel from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base are also involved in filling several sessions according to the programme’s needs. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the involvement of the TNI in the orientation is necessary to strengthen nationalism and love for the country. “So, mainly, to make their mentality strong, love for the country, and be able to return here and contribute their knowledge here,” Purbaya said, quoted from Antara, on Monday (4/5/2026). The hope is that LPDP graduates can implement their knowledge because Indonesia needs to master high-level technology. “We will change that because we must increase the use of technology going forward. If not, we will be left behind,” said Purbaya.
