Why in Jakarta only?
Why in Jakarta only?
From Merdeka
We feel a lot of satisfaction every time we read or hear
reports about businesspeople and entertainers donating basic
foodstuffs to the less fortunate.
Their actions show their concern for the people in the present
monetary crisis. Their help is all the more appreciated if the
food is distributed free. Some people object to this because it
is not educational, but it does not matter. At least it
alleviates the suffering of the poor.
After much exposure in newspapers and on TV, a question has
arisen: Why do the social activities mostly take place in
Jakarta? Why is there no attention given to rural areas where
many people also lack foodstuffs and cannot afford to buy any?
They would certainly be happy if some philanthropists,
businesspeople and entertainers came to visit them bearing
foodstuffs at lowered prices, or for free. Rural people are
confused these days. Should they travel to Jakarta in the current
economic crisis? Waiting in their villages is also a problem in
between crops. There is no money for food and sugar.
Everything is expensive now. I appeal to philanthropists,
businesspeople and entertainers to take some time off to reduce
the burden of rural people. Their activities should not only
cover Jakarta. We highly appreciate actor Tamara Bleszynski who,
along with her parents, recently showed her social concern in
Cianjur, West Java.
