Why Danantara is Funding Subsidised Apartments at Meikarta
The government is constructing subsidised apartments on 30.7 hectares of land in Meikarta, Cikarang Selatan, Kabupaten Bekasi. The development is entirely funded by the State Investment Management Body Danantara (BPI Danantara).
“If we look at it from a supply and demand perspective, there is considerable demand,” said Chief Executive Officer Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani in Cikarang Selatan, Kabupaten Bekasi, on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
Rosan Roeslani stated that on 12.8 hectares of the site, 18 towers with 32 storeys will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rp 14-16 trillion. The project will provide 140,000 apartment units.
“Of course, we can collaborate with State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Karya on this project, alongside other private contractors,” he said.
The project is built on land donated by Lippo Group, which was handed over symbolically the previous afternoon. The subsidised apartment complex is located near District 1 of Meikarta. At the handover ceremony, the land was level ground, with heavy equipment positioned to begin construction.
The development plan includes five unit types. A one-bedroom unit measures 24.8 square metres; a premium one-bedroom unit measures 28.7 square metres; a two-bedroom unit measures 33.3 square metres; a premium two-bedroom unit measures 34.3 square metres; and a three-bedroom unit measures 45 square metres.
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait stated that the price per unit has not yet been determined. The government is currently awaiting the completion of the construction process. “We will announce the scheme once it is finalised,” he said at the same occasion.
This vertical housing initiative supports President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship 3 million homes programme. In addition to vertical housing, the government is also providing subsidised landed houses financed through the Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP).
