Why Ahmad Bahar's Daughter Speaks Out Over Alleged Intimidation at GRIB Jaya Headquarters

F (33), the daughter of author Ahmad Bahar, has spoken out about alleged intimidation she experienced when she was brought to the GRIB Jaya headquarters in Kedoya, West Jakarta, on Sunday, 17 May 2026. Previously, the dispute between Ahmad Bahar and GRIB Jaya’s General Chairman Hercules had been described as resolved peacefully through mediation at Depok Metro Police. Gufroni, head of Research and Public Advocacy at LBH AP PP Muhammadiyah, said F chose to speak out because she felt she had experienced inhumane treatment as a woman. He added that the issue raised by F was different from the conflict between Ahmad Bahar and Hercules, which had been settled earlier. “This is not about the matter between Mr Ahmad Bahar and Hercules, because that has been resolved and peaceful. This concerns what Ms F has experienced,” Gufroni said. He said F was treated like a suspect at the GRIB Jaya headquarters. “In a country governed by the rule of law there are still interrogation methods that defy common sense, which should be the responsibility of the police, but it appears to have been taken over by the GRIB organisation, treating Ms F like a suspect or defendant,” he said. At the same location, F admitted she initially did not want to go when a group of people came to her father’s house in Cimanggis, Depok, on Sunday 17 May 2026. However, she said she was still asked to accompany them to the GRIB Jaya headquarters for clarification. “I told them I did not want to go, because they were after my father,” F said. She said she eventually went along because she was afraid the situation at home would get out of hand. “If they tell me to go, I would go; if I didn’t go, more people would come,” she added. After arriving at the GRIB Jaya headquarters, F said she was asked to wait for Hercules to arrive. When they met, she said she was immediately accused of sending threats to Hercules and his wife.
