Whoosh Train Delayed Due to Passenger Holding Door; KCIC Issues Warning
A passenger on the Whoosh high-speed train held the door open after realising an item had been left on the platform. The incident occurred at Padalarang Station in West Java on Tuesday (7/4/2026) and caused the train to be delayed. ‘We condemn the passenger’s action of holding the train door, as it not only violates the rules but also has the potential to damage facilities and negatively impact hundreds of other passengers due to departure delays,’ said General Manager for Corporate Secretary of Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), Eva Chairunisa, in an official statement on Friday (10/4/2026). The action disrupted the sensor in the automatic door opening and closing system on the train. As a result, the train, which was scheduled to depart at 07:23 WIB, was delayed by two minutes. Eva explained that each Whoosh train set is equipped with an automatic door system that is an important part of journey safety. Forcibly holding the door causes the automatic closing system to malfunction and potentially leads to long-term facility damage risks. KCIC has also deployed staff on the platform and inside the train to ensure all passengers are safely inside the Whoosh before the doors are closed. Passengers are required to always follow instructions from staff for journey safety. However, if there are items left behind in the train or Whoosh station, passengers can coordinate with staff inside the train for further handling through KCIC’s Lost and Found system. Eva explained that the passenger in question has been given a warning not to repeat the action. ‘KCIC hopes that all passengers will follow the rules and staff instructions and not take actions that endanger themselves, disrupt operations, or damage Whoosh facilities,’ she concluded.
