The number of subscribers to the Whoosh high-speed rail’s Frequent Whoosher Card (FWC) continues to grow, with July sales reaching 3,366 cards, the highest in a single month since the programme was launched.

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) reported that 47,577 FWC cards have been sold over the past two years up to the end of last month.

Of the three card options available, the Gold subscription card for the Jakarta-Bandung route was the best-selling, with 37,501 cards sold.

The FWC is one of the options for regular Whoosh passengers to obtain more economical travel fares on the Jakarta-Bandung route and vice versa.

The Gold category is priced at Rp2 million for 10 premium economy class journeys, while the Silver category costs Rp1.35 million for six journeys. These prices are cheaper than the normal premium economy class fare, which under certain conditions can exceed Rp300,000 for a single journey.

The cost per journey with the card can be even cheaper for shorter routes, such as Jakarta-Karawang and Karawang-Bandung. In addition, each card category has a validity period, namely 60 days for the Gold card and 30 days for the Silver card, starting from the date of purchase.

To promote the subscription card programme, KCIC has also issued cards with thematic designs. The latest FWC comes in a special 81st Independence Day edition, but is only available for the Jakarta-Bandung route.

“In addition to providing benefits for customers who regularly use Whoosh, this special design also offers its own appeal to own and collect. We want the spirit of independence to be present in various parts of the customer journey with Whoosh,” said KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa in an official statement.
