Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) predicts that the number of Whoosh high-speed train passengers will reach 25,000 people during the peak Lebaran return flow on 28-29 March 2026.

“We predict that on 28 or 29 March, there will again be an increase in the Lebaran return flow, projected to range between 24 and 25,000 people per day,” said KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti at the KCIC Station in East Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, this peak return flow coincides with the resumption of work and school activities. Moreover, the trend of increasing passengers has already been visible in recent days.

In fact, during the previous period, the number of passengers from Bandung to Halim was recorded as quite high. “Passengers from Bandung to Halim reached more than 24,000 people in one day on Tuesday (24/3),” Emir stated.

This surge is inseparable from the policies of several companies that will start work from 30 March to 1 April. Additionally, school teaching and learning activities will resume. These conditions encourage people to return to Jakarta after celebrating Eid in their hometowns.

To anticipate this surge, KCIC has prepared transport capacity deemed sufficient. Currently, there are 62 Whoosh trips every day every 30 minutes with a total capacity of 37,000 seats.

Nevertheless, KCIC remains open to the possibility of adding trips if there is a passenger surge beyond predictions. The addition of schedules will be done flexibly according to field needs.

“We are ready to add trips if needed, but for now, the available capacity is still sufficient,” Emir said.

KCIC also urges the public to plan their trips well and book tickets early to avoid running out of tickets, especially ahead of the peak return flow.

With operational readiness and available capacity, KCIC is optimistic that the Whoosh high-speed train service can support the smooth Lebaran return flow this year, particularly for people returning from Bandung to Jakarta.
