Whoosh Passenger Numbers Reach 21,900 During Long Holiday, Morning-Afternoon Tickets Sold Out
JAKARTA - Passenger volume on the Whoosh high-speed train experienced a significant surge during the long weekend holiday.
PT KCIC recorded 21,900 passengers on Friday (1/5/2026), an increase of around 15 percent compared to a typical weekend.
KCIC Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa revealed that this surge led to tickets for departures from Halim Station in the morning to afternoon hours being completely sold out.
“Today’s passenger volume remains high, dominated by trips from Jakarta to Bandung. KCIC urges the public to plan their journeys well and book tickets early, as during long holiday periods, tickets for popular time slots tend to sell out faster,” Eva stated in an official remark on Saturday (2/5/2026).
Meanwhile, on Saturday (2/5/2026), around 10,000 tickets had been sold, with projections to reach approximately 22,000 passengers by the end of the day.
Amid this surge, KCIC also reminded passengers to adhere to baggage regulations.
KCIC emphasised the prohibition on carrying dangerous goods on the train, such as flammable or explosive materials, narcotics, firearms and sharp weapons without permission, as well as strong-smelling items that could disturb other passengers’ comfort.
To support smooth passenger flow, KCIC provides porter services at Halim Station, especially for passengers with large amounts of luggage.
Eva added that passengers are requested to place their baggage in the designated areas inside the train, either on the overhead racks or in the storage spaces between carriages.
The Whoosh high-speed train is Indonesia’s first high-speed transport service with a Jakarta-Bandung route serving four main stations: Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.
KCIC aims for this service to become the public’s primary choice for fast and efficient mobility, especially during long holiday periods.
