Whoosh High-Speed Train Sees Record 24,000 Passengers in a Single Day
KCIC recorded 24,315 Whoosh passengers on 24 March 2026 in a single day, marking the temporary peak for the 2026 Lebaran transport period. KCIC Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa stated that this figure even exceeded the 2025 Lebaran peak of 23,462 passengers per day.
“The passenger surge on 24 March is also reflected in the high occupancy of trips, particularly from Bandung to Jakarta,” Eva said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
Eva noted that all departure tickets from Padalarang from 1:23 PM WIB until the last departure at 9:23 PM WIB were fully sold out.
Overall, she continued, passenger movements were dominated by routes to Jakarta, with more than 14,000 passengers from Padalarang and Tegalluar to Halim in one day.
Eva stated that this high public interest demonstrates Whoosh’s role as the primary transport choice during the return flow period.
“We see significant movement of people returning to Jakarta after the Lebaran holiday, and Whoosh is chosen for its speed and comfort,” Eva added.
Based on departure data per station, the highest volume came from Padalarang Station with 11,000 passengers, followed by Halim Station with 8,000 passengers, then Tegalluar Summarecon with 4,000 passengers, and Karawang with 800 passengers.
This high movement was dominated by people returning to activities after the Lebaran holiday, particularly to Jakarta and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, for today’s departures on 25 March 2026, ticket sales until midday have reached around 18,000 tickets and are projected to continue increasing to more than 20,000 passengers.
Passenger movements remain relatively high, both from those just starting holiday trips and those returning to Jakarta for activities.
“In total, Whoosh tickets sold during the Lebaran transport period from 13–30 March 2026 have reached 237,000 tickets,” Eva continued.
Eva advised passengers heading to Jakarta from the Bandung area to utilise the KA Feeder service from Bandung Station to Padalarang Station to avoid traffic congestion on the toll road and ensure timely journeys.
Additionally, passengers are reminded to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure, as the boarding process will close five minutes before departure to maintain safety and operational smoothness.
“We urge passengers to plan their journeys well, including arriving early at the station and using the KA Feeder service from Bandung and Cimahi to Padalarang for a smoother trip, as the schedules are already integrated with Whoosh’s timetable,” Eva said.
