PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia Cina (KCIC) projects that Whoosh passenger volumes during the 2026 Eid holiday travel season will increase by up to 4 per cent compared to the previous year.

“Whoosh has become one of the preferred transport options for the public wishing to travel between cities quickly and comfortably during the Eid holiday period,” said Eva Chairunisa, General Manager of Corporate Secretary at KCIC, in a written statement on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

With this potential increase, Eva projects that Whoosh could carry 301,000 passengers during this Eid holiday period, up from 290,000 passengers during the 2025 Eid season.

Eva stated that the projected passenger increase is evident from potential spikes in daily passenger numbers, which are expected to be higher than in the previous year. She cited an example in which the daily passenger peak during the 2025 Eid season was approximately 23,000 passengers per day, whilst daily passenger numbers are projected to approach 25,000 passengers per day during this year’s Eid holiday.

Eva projects that the peak passenger movement will occur during two main periods. An increase in passenger volume is expected to begin on 17 March 2026 and continue rising as Eid approaches, with the peak outbound travel anticipated on the day before Eid, 20 March 2026. A surge in passengers is also expected on the two days following Eid, around 22 March 2026.

Based on ticket purchase patterns from previous Eid holiday periods, Eva noted that sales increases typically occur closer to travel dates. This purchasing pattern, according to Eva, is linked to Whoosh’s relatively short journey duration of approximately 30 minutes. Consequently, many travellers choose to perform their Eid prayers in their home cities first before boarding Whoosh for leisure or family visits.

Eva projects that daily passenger numbers on Eid day itself could approach 25,000 passengers. According to Eva, preliminary data currently shows that more than 25,000 tickets have been sold for departures from 15 to 21 March 2026, with 18 March 2026 recording the highest provisional bookings. Ticket bookings are expected to continue increasing as travel dates approach.

Whoosh tickets for the Eid holiday period are available through all official Whoosh sales channels, both offline and online. Consumers can purchase through the Whoosh application, the ticket.kcic.co.id website, and partner applications including Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, BRImo, Wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, Traveloka, and Trip.com.
