Whoosh High-Speed Train Makes Emergency Stop in Cimahi Due to Kite

CIMAHI – The Whoosh high-speed train KA1039, running from Halim Station in Jakarta to Tegalluar Summarecon Station in Bandung, stopped at KM 117 in Leuwigajah, Cimahi, West Java, on Sunday (19/7/2026) at around 16.11 Western Indonesia Time. The incident was caused by a foreign object entering the high-speed rail corridor.

“That’s correct, we are currently handling a foreign object in the form of a kite that entered the track and disrupted the train’s movement,” said KCIC’s Corporate Communication Manager, Emir Monti, when contacted on Sunday (19/7/2026).

After safety preparations were made, officers carried out handling work for approximately four minutes, between 16.15 and 16.19 Western Indonesia Time. Once the work was completed, Whoosh train G1039 resumed its journey at 16.24 and operations returned to normal.

“The handling did not take long after officers switched off the entire power network. By 16.24 the Whoosh train was running again,” said Emir.

He said kite-related disruptions have become increasingly frequent in recent weeks. Most of the disruptions to Whoosh services caused by kites have occurred along the stretch from Padalarang to Bandung.

“Only a few days ago we uploaded information about handling kite disruptions, and now it has happened again. The intensity has indeed increased somewhat, with most incidents occurring in the Cimahi-Padalarang area,” said Emir.
