Whoosh Gains Popularity as Choice for Eid al-Fitr Homecoming Transport in 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail (KCJB), known as Whoosh, is increasingly popular as a transport choice during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, evidenced by a 7 per cent increase in passenger numbers compared to last year. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) reported that the volume of Whoosh passengers during this year’s Eid al-Fitr homecoming period (13-30 March) reached 311,472 people, busier than last year’s 290,935 passengers. “The increase in passenger numbers during this year’s Eid al-Fitr homecoming period shows that Whoosh is increasingly trusted as the primary transport choice. Amid high public mobility, all operations ran safely, smoothly, and under control,” said General Manager of Corporate Communications for PT KCIC, Eva Chairunisa, in her official statement. Eva noted that Whoosh’s passenger numbers were consistently high, averaging 17,304 passengers per day, with a peak on 24 March 2026 carrying a total of 24,315 passengers in one day. To support the high mobility during this year’s Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, KCIC operated 1,088 Whoosh trips with a claimed on-time performance of 99.4 per cent. The highest passenger volume was recorded at Halim Station with a 46 per cent contribution, followed by Padalarang Station at 35 per cent, and the remainder through Tegalluar and Karawang Stations.
