JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Tempo Scan Group dispatched 3,000 homecoming travellers using 52 buses to various cities on Java and Sumatra from Masjid Istiqlal in Central Jakarta on Sunday (15/3/2026).

The send-off of the travellers was part of the programme “Mudik Sepenuh Hati 100% Indonesia from Generation to Generation Together Building the Nation”.

Executive Chairman and Founder of Tempo Scan Group, Handojo S Muljadi, stated that the free homecoming programme represents a tangible manifestation of Tempo Scan’s wholehearted commitment to continuously supporting the community in carrying out traditions during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

For 72 years, he continued, Tempo Scan has adhered to responsibility and usefulness, which are the core values of Tempo Scan Group, as well as sustainable cooperative relationships with business partners.

Tempo Scan Group, Handojo said, is a 100 per cent authentically Indonesian company. This is a particular source of pride as it demonstrates that the national industry is capable of producing competitive products without relying on foreign ownership.

To appreciate the partners, Tempo Scan held a free homecoming programme that has transported tens of thousands of travellers since 2017. The programme has received much appreciation from business partners and the community.

In addition to the homecoming programme, Handojo added that Tempo Scan is also active in humanitarian activities. One of them is through the distribution of aid for Palestine in collaboration with the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas).

“The aid was realised in the form of eight ambulance units placed at the Rafah Border Crossing route. This spot is one of the main entry points for humanitarian aid to the Gaza region,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana stated that the government has allocated stimulus in the form of transport discounts worth hundreds of billions of rupiah.

The provision of this stimulus aims to help the community celebrate Lebaran with their families in their hometowns.

In addition, the government has also provided several free homecoming programmes involving various parties, from ministries, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), to private companies.

BUMN, he continued, has prepared 110,000 free homecoming quotas through various modes of transportation, such as trains, sea vessels, and buses.

Suntana appreciated Tempo Scan’s initiative in holding the free homecoming programme. According to him, collaboration between the government and the private sector is key in helping the community carry out the homecoming tradition more easily.

“On behalf of the government, we extend our thanks to Tempo Scan for the spirit of togetherness in helping the community to go home,” he said.

Head of Social Affairs and Community Empowerment at Masjid Istiqlal Jakarta, Abu Hurairah, emphasised that Masjid Istiqlal is not only a centre for religious activities but also a symbol of unity and humanity for Indonesian society.

This mosque is a “great house of humanity” that is open to anyone regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background.

“The construction of Masjid Istiqlal is the result of collaborative efforts by various elements of the nation from diverse backgrounds. The existence of this mosque is a shared pride for all Indonesian people,” said Abu Hurairah.

One of the participants in the free homecoming programme organised by Tempo Scan Group, Erwin, admitted to being greatly helped by the programme.

He and his family of five plan to return to their hometown in Purworejo, Central Java, to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

According to Erwin, this free homecoming programme provides convenience for his family who have difficulty obtaining transportation tickets for the journey home.

He himself has tried several times to book train tickets but always failed because the seating quota was full.

“Booking train tickets for Lebaran is often full. I’ve tried several times, but keep failing,” said Erwin.

In addition to ticket availability, travel costs are also a particular consideration for his family.

Erwin estimated that train ticket prices during the Lebaran homecoming season could reach around Rp 400,000 per person. With five family members, the total travel cost could reach Rp 2 million.

Therefore, Erwin feels greatly helped by the free homecoming programme organised by Tempo Scan. He learned about the programme from a relative who is a business partner in East Jakarta.

Erwin appreciated the founder of Tempo Scan, Handojo S Muljadi, for organising the programme. He hopes that this free homecoming activity can continue to be held in the coming years because it provides great benefits to the community.

“I am very grateful to Mr Handojo and Tempo Scan for this programme. Hopefully in the future, free homecoming programmes like this can continue to run because they greatly help the community,” he said.
