Who Will Replace Perry Warjiyo as Bank Indonesia Governor? Prabowo Yet to Decide
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto has not yet decided on a name for the definitive candidate for Governor of Bank Indonesia to be proposed to the House of Representatives. This was conveyed when answering journalists’ questions regarding the filling of the BI Governor position after Perry Warjiyo resigned. ‘A definitive BI Governor has not yet been decided, as of today the President has not decided to propose a definitive BI Governor candidate to the DPR,’ Prasetyo Hadi told reporters in Batang Regency, Central Java, on Thursday. He explained that the mechanism for filling the position is regulated in the Bank Indonesia Law. Following Perry’s resignation, the position of BI Governor is automatically carried out by the Senior Deputy, Destry Damayanti, as acting BI Governor. Prasetyo was also not yet willing to disclose the specific criteria desired by the president for the next BI Governor figure. ‘Specific criteria? The mandatory one is red and white,’ Prasetyo said.
