Who Will Replace Perry Warjiyo as Bank Indonesia Governor? Prabowo Yet to Decide

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Minister of State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto has not yet decided on the name of a definitive Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor candidate to be submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR).

He made the statement while responding to journalists’ questions regarding the filling of the BI Governor post following Perry Warjiyo’s resignation.

“As for the definitive BI Governor, indeed not yet — as of today, the President has not decided to submit a definitive BI Governor candidate to the DPR,” Prasetyo Hadi told journalists in Batang Regency, Central Java, on Thursday (30/7/2026).

He explained that the mechanism for filling the post has been regulated under the Bank Indonesia Law. After Perry’s resignation, the position of BI Governor is automatically carried out by the Senior Deputy Governor, Destry Damayanti, as acting BI Governor.

“So if it’s the definitive one, it’s not yet… not yet,” he said.

Prasetyo was also unwilling to reveal the specific criteria the President desires for the next BI Governor figure.

“Specific criteria? The obligatory one is red and white,” said Prasetyo.
