Pham Nhat Vuong is the founder and leader of Vingroup, Vietnam’s richest conglomerate, which holds 95% of GSM’s shares.
According to the id.greensm.com website, on 6 March 2023, Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vingroup, announced the launch of Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), a company focused on renting environmentally friendly and smart vehicles. GSM is a global pioneer in multi-platform electric vehicles.
GSM operates in two main services: booking electric cars and renting cars and electric motorcycles, with an investment of 20,000 cars and 60,000 motorcycles. We provide travel services with electric vehicles, while also renting vehicles to transportation companies to meet the demand for eco-friendly transport options.

Green SM officially entered the Indonesian market in 2024 under the Vingroup banner, initially named “Xanh SM”. In April 2025, the brand was changed to Green SM Indonesia to make it easier for local people to pronounce and identify. The local entity overseeing operations in Indonesia is PT Xanh SM Green, or PT XANHSM Green and Smart Mobility Indonesia.
This electric taxi service has expanded to several major cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Makassar, Bekasi, Surabaya, and Bali. To support operational readiness and service sustainability, Green SM Indonesia has signed a five-year investment loan agreement worth 600 billion rupiah (approximately US$35.3 million) with Bank Central Asia (BCA).
Green SM has also formed a strategic partnership with Gojek to launch electric taxi services, expanding its reach and accessibility in Indonesia. This partnership demonstrates Green SM’s efforts to integrate with the existing online transportation ecosystem and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
