Who Owns Kota Baru Parahyangan, the Largest Self-Sufficient City in Greater Bandung?
For residents of Greater Bandung, Kota Baru Parahyangan is a familiar landmark. It serves as a new urban development and a satellite city supporting the capital of West Java.
Kota Baru Parahyangan is recorded as the largest self-sufficient urban area in the Greater Bandung region. Located in Padalarang, West Bandung Regency, the area is developed with a concept focused on green residential living and educational zones.
Beyond housing, the area features business centres, hotels, hospitals, commercial zones, and tourist destinations such as Wahoo Waterworld and IKEA Kota Baru Parahyangan.
Behind the development of this area is the property company PT Belaputera Intiland. This company has been the primary developer of Kota Baru Parahyangan since the project’s inception in the early 2000s.
Kota Baru Parahyangan was the first self-sufficient city project developed by the group in Greater Bandung. The area covers approximately 1,250 hectares, which includes a lake area of around 200 hectares.
In its development, Kota Baru Paranchangan adopts a ‘self-sufficient, education-oriented city’ concept. Consequently, various educational facilities, green open spaces, commercial areas, recreational centres, and sports facilities have been built within the precinct.
The business group has existed since 1959 and originally operated in the trade of agricultural products before expanding into other sectors such as property, timber, building materials, distribution, and oil and gas.
The development of the Kota Baru Parahyangan project is carried out through its subsidiary, PT Belaputera Intiland, also known as PT Bela Parahiyangan Investindo.
The original owner and founder of the company was the entrepreneur Susanta Lyman in 1959. However, the Lyman Group is now managed by the second generation, with one of its controllers being Osbert Lyman.
Forbes has frequently included Osbert Lyman’s name in the list of the 50 richest people in Indonesia. For instance, in 2021, the magazine noted Osbert Lyman’s wealth reached 800 million US dollars.
Throughout its development journey, the company has also been led several times by prominent property management figures, including Sanusi Tanawi, who previously served as the President Director of PT Belaputera Intiland.
