Who lacks discipline?

Recruits to the National Discipline Movement are often seen in
front of Indonesian Christian University (UKI) on Jalan Sutoyo in
East Jakarta, a site of frequent traffic congestion.

They wear green vests with the words Discipline Enforcer on
the back. While they may supervise discipline on the streets,
they do not have the authority to check on driver and vehicle
documents. One day I saw a motorist refuse to show his documents
to an enforcer, who then shouted harshly: "Don't tell me what I
can and what I cannot do. This is an area of the national
discipline movement. I don't care whether you like it or not."

I was appalled by his lack of courtesy and resented his
attitude as a so-called "discipline" enforcer.
