WHO and Indonesia sign US$14.8 million grant to boost health system

Secretary General Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha announced that through the agreement, WHO Indonesia is providing US$14.8 million in grants, goods, and services to support health programmes during the 2026-2027 biennium.

Nugraha said the cooperation aligns with WHO’s 14th General Programme of Work, the ministry’s strategic plan, the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan, and six pillars of health transformation.

He noted that WHO support has boosted promotive and preventive efforts, improved health service quality, strengthened system resilience, and facilitated development of evidence-based health policies.

“The signing of the Grant Agreement and Joint Workplan is a strategic step to ensure continuity of WHO support for national health priorities,” Nugraha said, calling it foundational for a resilient and inclusive health system.

He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to optimising implementation of the Joint Workplan through coordination with all technical units receiving grants.

Nugraha expressed hope WHO will continue providing technical and policy support, particularly to strengthen planning, monitoring, and programme evaluation capacities in line with the ministry’s performance indicators.

Officials said the signing is expected to accelerate planned activities and deliver measurable public health improvements while supporting national health targets and Sustainable Development Goals.
