White House Spokesperson's Statement Goes Viral After Shooting at Journalists' Event

Moscow (ANTARA) - White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt has come under the spotlight after her statement before the journalists’ dinner became viral, following the shooting and evacuation of United States President Donald Trump from the event. “(The event) will be funny, it will be entertaining, there will be some shots tonight in that room!” Leavitt said live to a Fox News correspondent before the event, while announcing the president’s speech, which she described as “classic Donald J. Trump.” A shooting then indeed occurred at the event, reportedly carried out by a 31-year-old man from California. A Secret Service member survived thanks to a bulletproof vest but was still hospitalised. Trump stated that he and cabinet members were safe, and the perpetrator had been arrested. Trump’s presence at the annual “White House Correspondents’ Association” dinner on Saturday (25/4) local time was his first during his tenure as US President.
