The Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dittippidnarkoba) of Bareskrim Polri is continuing to probe the production of illegal nitrous oxide gas branded ‘Whip Pink’. Investigators have scheduled an interview with a social media influencer identified by the initials ZNM as a witness in the case.

Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim, Brig. Gen. Eko Hadi Santoso, said that ZNM’s involvement was detected after content from the influencer using the product went viral on social media.

‘The person concerned purchased and used the nitrous oxide gas branded Whip Pink, which went viral on Instagram,’ Eko Hadi Santoso said in Jakarta on Wednesday 20 May. The examination of ZNM is scheduled for Friday 22 May.

In addition to ZNM, police have identified several other consumers who will be summoned for statements. Based on the investigation, there are several individuals who recorded transactions in volumes regarded as unusual.

The list of consumers to be questioned includes: ‘One of the consumers is suspected of having made hundreds of purchases, and will be asked about purchasing history,’ added Brig. Gen. Eko.

In April 2026, Bareskrim uncovered a Whip Pink gas production factory in Jakarta. PT SSS, the producer, is found to have neither the required legality nor circulation permit from BPOM. Nitrous oxide gas is often misused as a recreational gas that can be dangerous to health if not supervised medically.

To date, the police have secured nine witnesses and identified three site owners of the production and distribution warehouses, namely AH, SC, and JH. The illicit business is known to operate a fairly extensive distribution network.

Investigators found that Whip Pink storage warehouses are spread across 16 locations covering 10 major Indonesian cities, from Jakarta and Yogyakarta to Lombok. Police are continuing to trace the distribution flow to cut the supply chain of this unlicensed gas in the community.
