Jakarta (ANTARA) - A casual labourer with initials B deliberately stole a resident’s motorcycle on Jalan Gajah Mada, Tamansari, West Jakarta, on Thursday, when he left his vehicle running in front of a house to go inside for a cup of coffee.

The incident began when the victim, initials AG, started the motorcycle in front of his house. While the engine was running, the victim left the motorcycle and went inside to have a coffee. The offender, B, saw this as an opportunity and pushed the running motorcycle onto the road to ride away.

“The victim saw the bike being pushed by the offender. With local residents, the offender was successfully secured,” said AKP Egy Irwansyah, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Tamansari Police Sector, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.

After being secured, the victim was beaten by a mob at the scene.

Egy said the offender initials B was secured by the Tamansari Police Sector Criminal Investigation Unit around 05:30 WIB.

“The offender has been secured by the Tamansari Police Sector after being caught red-handed while taking away the victim’s motorbike,” said Egy.
