Which Ministers Fall Under the Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming? Bahlil Provides Answer
President Prabowo Subianto has officially inaugurated Bahlil Lahadalia as the Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition. The inauguration took place at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026), as stipulated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 104/P/2026.
Following his appointment as Coordinating Minister, questions arose regarding which other ministers would fall under the supervision of the Downstreaming and Energy Transition coordination ministry. Bahlil Lahadalia noted that he will continue to hold his position as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) concurrently. Regarding the other ministries under his new coordination remit, he stated he could not comment extensively yet and must first verify the relevant regulations.
“As for which ministers fall under my supervision, I will check the Presidential Regulation (Perpres),” Bahlress said when asked about the ministerial structure during a press conference at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta.
In addition to explaining the ministerial structure, Bahlil revealed the primary urgency behind the President’s formation of this new coordinating ministry. He noted that uncertain global geopolitical conditions and the demands of the world economy regarding clean energy require a measured and comprehensive approach to downstreaming and energy transition.
“Secondly, why is this important? We know that in conditions of uncertain geopolitics and the dynamics of the global economic constellation that demand clean energy, the President views it as vital that priority programmes related to downstreaming and energy transition—as a global commitment to the Paris Agreement—cannot be done partially, but must be carried out comprehensively, measured, and truly realised according to the targets commanded by the President,” Bahlil explained.
Regarding which strategic projects will be prioritised for acceleration, Bahlil stated that he will first report officially to the President. He emphasised that he will dedicate his full time to executing his new duties and responsibilities.
