Where's the proof of accusations?
Where's the proof of accusations?
From Pikiran Rakyat
Political use of violence concerning ethnicity, religion, race
and group relations (SARA) has been on the increase recently. The
cases of Maluku, North Maluku and Aceh remain unsolved, and then
the strife in Mataram, Lombok, occurred. It is all very
disquieting for the unity of the nation and the country.
However, of even greater concern is the weakness of the
intelligence system and our continued reliance on branding other
as instigators. In the case of Lombok, the accusation is directed
at Eggi Sudjana, chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Workers
Brotherhood (PPMI).
The most deplorable aspect is the absence of any accurate
investigation to prove the involvement of somebody in a case.
Subjectivity probably overrules objectivity. This worsens the
situation because, without proper investigation, a case will only
push a particular group into a corner and give rise to suspicion
among groups.
The problem will only result in uncertainty and delay in
resolution of the real problem.
Therefore, we members of PPMI in Bandung hope that all sides
take an objective stance and adhere to rational instead of
emotional actions.
PPMI Bandung, as the coordinator of the PPMI forum in West
Java, states the following:
1. The government must establish an investigative team to look
for truthful information in the Mataram case.
2. PPMI Bandung is ready to cooperate with the government in
setting up the investigative team.
3. PPMI Bandung appeals to the community to be cautious in
facing misleading rumors.
